Johannesburg Live Steamers Club was situated at Wemmer Pan for the past fifty years. The Steamers Club consists of over 50 members who are the proud owners of well-known steam locomotives around the world. The Club members’ enthusiasm, knowledge and passion for locomotives is astounding!

This year, Johannesburg Live Steamers Club decided to move to a safer family environment and have found a new home at Rietvlei Zoo Farm. Says Clive, Chairman of the Steamer Club,“We are so excited about this move. We have built a steam train track to scale I.E 3.5 inch, 5 inch and 7. 5 inch for scale model traction engines, stationary engines, steam lorries and steam cars. We are also planning to build extra railway lines at this stunning new outdoor venue.Rietvlei Zoo Farm is a perfect place for us to showcase our work and educate visitors.The Club members are excited to show off their whole collection of steam, stationary and model trains.Plans for building new models are also under way.”

The Johannesburg Live Steam Club invites the community to visit Rietvlei Zoo Farm on Saturday 16th March for the Grand Opening of the first Steam Train Track. The Club will be offering a selection of steam train rides to visitors at a cost of R10 and R20.
