Rietvlei Trails

Rietvlei Trails are located on a beautiful farm called Rietvlei Zoo Farm, proudly located in the South of Johannesburg, and offer Mountain Biking, Hiking, Walking, Running, and Cross-Country activities.
Rietvlei Trails will be OPEN daily from Monday 1 June 2020 under Level 3 of the lockdown.
All Trails are open from 6am to 6pm, under strictly procedures and rules.
(Under level 3, starting on Monday 1 June 2020, exercise will be allowed between 06h00 and 18h00 and the 5km radius rule has been dropped, but NO organised groups are allowed AND a mask or buff must be worn in public spaces at all times.)

Please note: There has been no maintenance on the trails for the past two months so expect some obstacles. We welcome for you to let us know which areas need work or repairs and report it to Clement at the Rietvlei Lapa or to Angel at the Farm Office. Please take some photos along the route and share them with us.

Rietvlei Trails has a choice of FOUR MTB Trails.

Yellow Trail –5km Novice Trail.
Orange Trail – 14km Novice to Intermediate Trail.
Green Trail – 20km Intermediate to Advanced Trail.
Blue Trail – 22km Advanced Trail.
All riders to register & sign indemnity at Rietvlei Trails Lapa/Entrance Gate.
All Trails are marked with signs and distances.
All trails are single track.
All riders to wear a helmet – NO HELMET, NO RIDE!
Riders to keep a 1m social distancing at all times.

Dogs on leads are allowed. Please bring a poop bag for you dog.

From 1 June 2020, all Trailer users entering and using the Rietvlei Trails on Rietvlei Zoo Farm, have to register and sign the indemnity forms, and purchase a Rietvlei Trails Access Card.

All COVID-19 health and safety protocols must be followed at all times, including observance of guidelines for social distancing, sanitation and hygiene, and use of cloth face masks or buffs.

Rietvlei Trails has decided to offer a WINTER SPECIAL!
For the months of June, July & August 2020, Trailers can purchase Rietvlei Trails Access Cards for R150 each, that allows TEN entries/visits, whether you are riding, hiking, walking or running.
Payments for Trail Access Cards are strictly by card only. NO cash payments will be allowed.
Access Cards will be clipped at the gate by the Rietvlei Trails staff or monitor. You can park your vehicle for free in the main parking.
Purchase your Access Cards - Monday to Friday:
- from Clement at the Trail Lapa Gate from 6am to 8am and 5pm to 6pm.
- from the Farm Office between 8am to 5pm.

Purchase your Access Cards - Saturdays/Sundays/Public Holidays:
- at the Trail Lapa from 6am to 6pm.

Please Note: Rietvlei Trails are open but the Picnic Park is closed. The Picnic Park is considered a recreation & leisure area, and is therefore CLOSED until Level 1. Visitors using the Trails are NOT allowed to access the Picnic Park. Use of the Picnic Park facilities is strictly NOT allowed until Level 1.

***NOTE*** As from 1 June 2020, all visitors using Rietvlei Trails at Rietvlei Zoo Farm, must complete and sign this Registration, Rules & Indemnity Form.
